Mixon Trims List
The West's top running back in the 2014 class, Oakley (Calif.) Freedom's Joe Mixon, narrowed his list down from nearly 40 offers to 16 schools.
“In no order, my final schools are California, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, UCLA, Washington, Arizona State, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arkansas, Clemson, Tennessee and USC,” Mixon
told Scout.com's Greg Biggins. “I was going to do a top 15 but I couldn’t decide so decided to keep it at 16.
Mixon is ranked as the #5-prospect in the West, regardless of position, fifth
at running back nationally and is a top 50 prospect in the country.
Nike Camp Standouts
Several of the West's top prospects had sterling performances at the Los
Angeles Nike Football Training Camp. the first stop on the NFTC Tour this year,
and first of three stops out West.
Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain quarterback Kyle Allen was named the QB
MVP and his performance moved him up to the #1-ranked quarterback spot in the
country by Scout.com.
Imperial (Calif.) running back Royce Freeman edged Palmdale (Calif.) running
back Demario Richard and Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian's D.J. Riggins
for RB MVP.
Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro 2015 receiver Christian Kirk was named the WR MVP
and Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco offensive lineman Damien Mama won the OL
On the defensive line, Lompoc (Calif.) defensive tackle Ainuu Taua won the DL
Gardena (Calif.) Serra linebacker Dwight Williams won the LB MVP award for
the second straight year and Compton (Calif.) Centennial cornerback Denzel Fisher won the DB MVP.

on their performances at the Los Angeles Nike Football Training Camp.
Earning invites were Gardena (Calif.) Serra linebacker Dwight Williams,
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco cornerback Naijiel Hale, Lompoc (Calif.)
defensive tackle Ainuu Taua, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco offensive
lineman Damien Mama and Corona (Calif.) Centennial offensive lineman Viane Talamaivao.

The fast rising Brown has picked up two Pac-12 offers this week, from Oregon
State and Washington, his fourth and fifth offers, and was also offered by San Diego State. Expect many more for the four-star receiver.
Wailuku (Hawaii) Baldwin linebacker Jordan Hoiem committed to Oregon this
week, the first verbal for the Ducks.
