Central Michigan became the first school to offer Troy Athens junior Lucas Bezerra on Monday. The 6'4, 228-lb prospect played defensive end and tight end last year but says most schools are recruiting him on offense.
Some kids expect it when an offer comes, but he was blindsided by the Chippewas.
"When I first received the offer, I was shocked. I had no idea CMU was going to offer so early, but it felt great when Coach Enos told me."
Bezerra has had a chance to visit Mount Pleasant and was impressed.
"I visited CMU on the 25th of February. I was able to watch the team workout and had a chance to meet with all the coaches. I really liked Central. I like how their program is increasing with talent."
The Chippewas should have some competition for this in-state prospect, as many other schools are making contact.
"I have been receiving letter from many schools including Akron, Missouri, Ball State, Harvard, Yale, Penn, Dartmouth, Princeton, Purdue, and Cincinnati. I am visiting Western Michigan this Saturday and I'm going to Ball State's spring practice in two weeks."
