2015: Roth on the Rise

East Grand Rapids (Mich.) sophomore quarterback Mikey Roth was one of the MVPs at the Adidas Invitational on Sunday and spoke to Scout afterwards about his recent Michigan State visit, his summer plans, and more.

After starting a few games last year, East Grand Rapids sophomore Mikey Roth is set to fully take over the controls of one of the state's perennial contenders this season.

Currently playing 7 on 7 with Maximum Exposure, Roth's accuracy, consistency and intelligence were on display Sunday when he was awarded MVP honors at the Adidas Invitational. Prior to that, he took a visit over to East Lansing to see Michigan State.

"State was awesome," the 5'11, 175-lb Roth said. "It was a big step up from a high school practice. Just the the speed, and everyone knew where they were supposed to be. It was intense."

Not only did he see practice, but Roth was also able to see what leads up to the practice.

"I talked to Coach Dantonio. I learned a lot. I got to sit in on meetings, a quarterback meeting where they went over protection and the plays."

Michigan State is one place the young signal caller is planning to camp at this summer in addition to several other schools who have been in contact.

"Eastern Michigan's talked to me about comig to camp. I'm going to Northwestern, I got an invite to a one day there, Miami Ohio, and then I'm working out the rest of my camp schedule with my coach right now."

In the coming weeks, Roth plans to visit Penn and Georgetown for practice and has also recently heard from Cincinnati and Oregon State.
