Erik Brown was arguably the top player during the pool play round on Saturday. He’s a tough cover because of his size and surprising quickness off the line. He has great hands, catches everything away from his body and never fights the ball. He has the body control to jump over defensive backs, above average speed and can run by a defense as well.
On the recruiting front, Brown’s most recent offer came last week from UCLA and it’s one he has been waiting on for a while.
“I was definitely excited about that offer, UCLA is my dream school,” Brown said. “I thought about committing on the spot but I think I want to go through the process and take my visits first. UCLA is in a good place and I have a great relationship with the coaches there.
“I’ve known Coach Meat (Demetrice Martin) for a while now and I like coach Yarber a lot as well. I told the coaches that UCLA is where I want to be but I just want to take some visits and go through the process first and they’re fine with that.”
Brown said he’ll take some unofficial visits in the summer and then a few official trips in the fall.
“I want to get out to Washington, Oregon State, Arizona State and Boise State,” Brown said. “ASU and Boise State haven’t offered yet but I think they could be close. Whatever schools I can’t visit in the summer, I’ll take official visits to. USC is another school I’m starting to hear from more and I’m going to go some spring practices as well. It's exciting right now for me and I'm enjoying the process and seeing how it all plays out."
