Gophers Standing Out

Mishawaka Marian (Ind.) junior offensive lineman Kirk Barron has been out on the road and it's a Big Ten school that has caught his attention.

Mishawaka Marian offensive lineman Kirk Barron has been hitting the road and visiting schools this spring. One of the recent programs he stopped at was Purdue.

"It went alright," he said. "Coach Bridge is an awesome guy. I was disappointed that I couldn't meet Coach Hazell."

The 6'3, 300-lb Barron has offers from Ball State and Ohio, and projects likely as a center or guard. One school who hasn't offered, but has made an impression is the Golden Gophers of Minnesota.

"The school that always makes me feel wanted and blows me away is Minnesota. It's look good (as far as an offer). They want me to camp just so they can see me in person and how I work with Coach Limegrover."

There are plenty of other schools still coming in too.

"Northern Illinois, Duke, Purdue and North Carolina State want me to camp along with Kentucky. I'll be at UK the 13th for their spring game."

Today Barron will be at Western Michigan.
