The Elite 11 tryouts kicked off in Dallas, Texas and here is Scott Kennedy's look at the Top 5…
QB David Cornwell, Norman (Okla.) North
A big, strong arm from Oklahoma, who was challenged in the one-on-one, because all of the defensive backs were so special. He found a way to make some great completions and can get the ball down the field in a hurry.
RB Mardre London, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas
Traveling all the way from the state of Florida, St. Thomas Aquinas High's London was named the MVP for the running back position. And was more than deserving, as he was solid for most of the day.
WR Malachi Dupre, River Ridge (La.) John Curtis
The big receiver from New Orleans makes it three-for-three on out of state MVPs. He took on all of the best defensive backs and came out shining. He had some epic battles with Tony Brown and gave more than he got.
OL Jacob Bragg, Nacogdoches (Texas)
Bragg came in to the camp with no offers, much like last year's MVP Brad North. He held his own in one-on-ones, dominating defensive linemen, who have nice lists. Powerful and short steps help him stave off the rush.
DL Solomon Thomas, Coppell (Texas)
Right off the bat it looked like he was one of the more dominating players there and he threw the power ball an impressive 42 feet. He exceled in all of the drills and when asking OL combatants they all mentioned him as the best.
LB Matthew Adams, Fort Bend (Texas) Hightower
It's a tough task to take on running backs in a one-on-one situation, but Adams was up to the task. He understood his assignment coverages in the drills and working with the coaches and that is what gave him the edge,
DB Tony Brown, Beaumont (Texas) Ozen
It started with an impressive sub-4.4 40-yard dash and went from there. The football and track star started to tighten up prior to the one-on-ones, but that did not slow his competitive fire. He jumped out to take on the best of the best at receiver.
