One of West Michigan's top young prospects, East Grand Rapids sophomore linebacker Carter Masek, added his first offer recently. Appropriately, it came from Western Michigan.
"It was awesome," he said of the offer. "Going into our meeting I didn't know what to expect, so I was very excited. My family was all really excited. This is a really great moment for us."
Masek has familiarity with Western, having been there a couple times already.
"I attended a camp last summer and had the opportunity to work with Coach McGarigle. I have a lot of respect for his knowledge and achievements throughout his career."
This last visit allowed the 6'3, 220-lb Masek to meet and interact with the new head man in Kalamazoo, P.J. Fleck.
"Coach Fleck is going to do amazing things at WMU. He brings a lot of positive energy and enthusiasm to the program. He reminds me a lot of my head football coach, Peter Stuursma. I look forward to getting know Coach Fleck and his staff better. I think Western is a great school with a lot to offer. I'm looking forward to spending around the campus and program."
Masek is also hearing from Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern and others.
