Coleman Has First Offer

New Lothrop (Mich.) class of 2014 cornerback Amari Coleman had a big junior year, which has earned him one scholarship offer and a host of interested parties contacting him.

The name Amari Coleman is beginning to pop up more and more when it comes to recruiting, and those who have seen him play are sure to think it is about time.

The New Lothrop High product is being recruited as a cornerback, but also scored on 19 of his 39 offensive touches last season. He earned All-State honors on defense, and now has his first offer as Central Michigan recently came through.

"It was exciting," he said. "I was kind of shocked because it was my first offer and it's a great school and everything. I like it a lot. I just want to keep my options open and hopefully come with an idea of where I want to go soon."

The 5'10, 170-lb Coleman says he is also hearing from Akron, Ball State, Wisconsin, Saginaw Valley State, Penn, and Minnesota.

The only school on that list he has visited is SVSU. He has been to Mount Pleasant to see the Chippewas.

"They had a great vibe. I like the coaches. They have a great attitude and the way practice was run was great. It was up-tempo, lively and I had a nice time. I like the school a lot."

As for those Big Ten schools, Coleman says, "I'm at the beginning of recruiting process with them. They send me mail, that's the only interest."

Coleman reports a 4.44 forty yard dash which was recorded at the University of Michigan summer camp last June.
