Ohio State exceeded expectations for Roberts
Wide receiver/H-back Austin Roberts of Carmel (Ind.) High was on hand Saturday for Ohio State's spring game, and he was pleasantly surprised with his experience. "It went even better than I thought it would be," Roberts said. "I didn't know what to expect because it was in Cincinnati, but the atmosphere was electric, the fans were screaming their heads off, and the players came out with a lot of energy. It surprised me a little, actually." "[Head coach] (Urban) Meyer and [cornerbacks coach] (Kerry) Coombs were happy to see me, and they were surprised at how much I've grown in two months, which was last time I saw them," Roberts said. "I was 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, and now I'm up to 6-foot-3, 210-pounds. They told me they really want me to be their H-back in this year's class." Earlier this spring, Roberts took visits to Michigan State, Florida, and Miami (where his dad won two national championships as a player for the Hurricanes in the 1980s). "They were all great visits, and I went into each one of them with a set of objectives and I accomplished each one," Roberts said. "I wanted to get closer with the coaching staffs and understand where each school sees me in their offense." Roberts is pumping the breaks on making trips right now, but he'll soon begin the process of narrowing his list. "I'm done for a while with visits," Roberts said. "I'm not sure of any camps this summer. I'm playing everything by ear, but I think I'll be committed before my senior year starts." Roberts is a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 27 wide receiver in the 2014 class.
