Vallejo (Calif.) Bethel defensive back Chad Miller (6-1, 170), was at a track meet on Saturday when an email popped up on his phone.
After finishing the track meet, Miller got the good news that his first offer was in, from San Jose State.
“Coach (Donte) Williams offered me,” said Miller. “It was a big relief and it came out of nowhere. It was exciting and I wasn’t expecting it this early.”
Miller also plays quarterback for Bethel, but said the offer is for the secondary.
“The offer is really for anywhere in the secondary,” said Miller. “I could play corner or safety, or I can build up to be a nickel.”
Miller had visited San Jose State earlier this spring.
“I met with Coach Williams and took a tour and we’ve been talking to them from there,” said Miller.
Aside from the Spartans, Miller has been hearing from Arizona State, UNLV and Iowa State.
“I also went to Cal’s Junior Day and it was really nice, but they’re not recruiting me a whole lot,” said Miller.
Miller is set to take the SAT next month.
