Read on to meet Lutcher (La.) 2014 CB Daishone Harrison, who stood out at the NUC Five-Star last month...

Daishone Harrison was the center of attention during the one-on-one matchups at the National Underclassmen Combine Five-Star Showcase last month (held at Zachary HS).

At 5-7 1/2 and 150 pounds, Harrison makes up for a lack of prototype size with a fierce competitive streak.

"I'm good in man-to-man coverage, going one-on-one with receivers," he said. "Not many receivers catch the ball over me. I have to play harder than the tall receivers and stick them at the line. When their eyes go up for the ball, so do mine. I put my hands on them before they can do the same to me."

As a junior, Harrison had 21 solo tackles and five assists with an interception (23 return yards) and a sack for Lutcher, which went 9-1.

"I had a lot of pass break-ups," he added. "At Tulane camp last summer, I locked down (four-star WR) Malachi Dupre and (three-star WR) Shelby Christy.

"My footwork is one of my best skills. Jordan Batiste (now at Tulane) has taught me a few things to work on; going against Jarvis Landry (now at LSU) in practice made me better."

Harrison's schools of interest include Tulane, Missouri, LSU, Ole Miss, Southern and Southeastern Louisiana.

"The LSU coaches put me against the top receivers in the elite one-on-one's at their camp," he said.

Harrison is hungry not only for his first offer, but also for his senior season.

Lutcher entered the 2012 Class 4A playoffs with an undefeated record and a gaudy No. 3 seed, only to get stunned by No. 30 St. Martinville in the first round.

At the NUC Five-Star, Harrison put his aggressive tactics to work against a fleet of talented wide-outs. Onlookers were impressed with his fiery demeanor and never-say-quit attitude.

Harrison stepped up to the plate every chance he got. His love for competition won the respect of fellow competitors, coaches working the event, and the media - and it won him a roster spot on the prestigious Louisiana Bootleggers 7v7 squad, although he couldn't participate in the recent IMG tourney (minor injury).
