Austin Roberts, a 6'3, 220-pound linebacker from Rice Lake High School visited Michigan State last week. While he had driven through the campus before, this was his first chance to actually visit.
"I loved it. Right away, when I got in there, we were on the field for pre-game and you can tell the commits, guys they've offered, they were all family, and the kids weren't even on the team yet. I liked that off the bat. Throughout the day everyone was great to me. I was sitting with my friend Marcus Collins and they invited us to the family picnic. I met Coach Tressel. He's a great guy too."
Roberts currently holds a couple offers including Central Michigan, Yale, Harvard and North Dakota. He hopes to earn one from the Spartans as well.
"The only thing is that they're only taking one more linebacker, which kind of makes me nervous. Coach Salem said they'd try to stop by school. They invited me to camp, their senior elite camp, and they want to see me there."
During this spring evaluation period, Roberts says will have coaches stopping by from Central Michigan, Purdue, Wyoming, Wisconsin and Minnesota, a school he is high on.
"I'm sure Minnesota will stop by. I've built up a strong relationship with those guys and they don't have to travel too far."
Roberts says he does not currently have any visits planned.
