Westerfield with Five

Noah Westerfield, 2014 LB

Boise State becomes the fifth program to slap an offer down for Frisco (Tx) Wakeland linebacker Noah Westerfield. Three others could follow next week.

"Boise State offered!" exclaimed Noah Westerfield via text message Friday evening, following a phone conversation with linebackers coach Bob Gregory and head coach Chris Petersen.

"I talked to Coach Gregory Thursday and he was fired up about me… I guess he watched my Hudl account and was in contact with my coach," Westerfield explained. "Friday, he put me on the phone with Coach Petersen, who said he was also very excited about me and that I have a home in Boise."

Turns out the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is fairly familiar with the program.

"I know that they're one of the top teams in the Mountain West and have been 84-8 under Coach Petersen," he noted. "I don't know much about the school, but I'll do my research."

He hopes to make a visit to "the blue turf" this summer, "Maybe for camp."

Broncos join SMU, New Mexico, Fresno State and Navy in Westerfield's offer mix. Monday brings the start of spring football season at Wakeland, with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Northwestern scheduled to swing through to evaluate the 'backer in person.
