Below are some news and notes on some of the top performers at last Saturday's Shrine Bowl Combine…
Wilson talks recruiting
"Right now, I'm pretty much done with recruiting visits," said the 5-foot-10, 160-pound Wilson, who is waiting on his first scholarship offer. "We just finished up with Campbell, Davidson and Furman. Now, I'm just getting ready for the season." Wilson said one school is showing the most interest. "Furman is the most interested right now," he said. "They called my coach and I also got a chance to talk with Coach (Scott) Smouse while I was down there visiting. They said they really want me." Wilson has three camps scheduled for the summer. "I'm definitely camping at Wake Forest, Furman and Davidson," he said. He has high goals for his senior season. "We want to start by winning a conference championship," Wilson said. "From there, we want to get that state championship. Individually, I want to have another big season and try to get some looks from some more schools." The Western Alamance playmaker's stock could be on the rise due to a strong performance at a recent Shrine Bowl Combine. Wilson checked in a 5-10, 160 pounds and back-to-back 4.44-second 40 yard dashes. He also tallied a 4.34-second shuttle, 38-inch vertical jump and 13 repetitions on the bench press. As a junior, Wilson had 800 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. Defensively, he had 46 tackles and five interceptions.
