The fact that Muncie and Fort Wayne are relatively close had little to do with Concordia Lutheran quarterback David Morrison's commitment to Ball State. There were many other key factors involved in the choice.
"I just felt really comfortable with the school, the staff, the players, and things there in general. I felt like I'd be a great fit with the offense and coaching staff and they were going to coach me up there."
In addition, there should be open competition when Morrison arrives, an opening he hopes to take advantage of by getting to campus as soon as possible.
"They have Keith Wenning leaving after this year and he's pretty much got the job, so it's pretty much up for grabs when I come in. I'm thinking about enrolling early to see if I can learn the offense a little better."
For now, he will get in on the recruiting act.
"Yeah, I'll definitely be looking at some guys. It's my job now for the team to call people up and see what I can do."
Morrison was slated to attend this weekend's Elite 11 tryout in Chicago but has a family event. He will instead attend the June event in Columbus.
