"I committed to Cincinnati," said Hakeem Allonce (6'5/290). "They came and showed me the most interest of all the coaches and teams recruiting me, and they offered me a scholarship on the spot. They were always one of my favorite teams when I was in high school. So when they offered, I called my mom, and she said 'take it', and I did."
Allonce is relatively late to the game of football having only played his first full season as a freshman at LA Pierce last year.
"I played basketball at Eleanor Roosevelt in Maryland, and I was on the team my senior season, but I don't really count that. Then I grayshirted my first year at College of the Canyons before transferring to LA Pierce and playing last year."
Allonce and his best friend 2013 Cincinnati signee Howard Wilder have followed similar paths. From College of the Canyons, to LA Pierce, and finally to Cincinnati.
"He's like my brother, and I'm looking forward to playing at Cincinnati with my brother."
"I'm planning on getting to Cincinnati in January. I'll have three years to play two. I'm not sure when I'm going to visit them. Whenever I can. This is my first time going through the recruiting process."
Allonce is being recruited to play defensive tackle at Cincinnati, though he is new to the game his size and athleticism have made him a top priority of Head Coach Tommy Tuberville and the Bearcat staff.
