A look at some recruiting news and notes from the Oakland Nike Football Training Camp...

Several of the West's top prospects were on hand at the Oakland NFTC on Sunday and here are news and notes from the recruiting trail.

Quick Going Slow

Fresno (Calif.) Central five-star receiver Michiah Quick stands as the top receiver in the West and his performance earned him an invitation to The Opening.

"The schools coming after the most aggressively are Notre Dame, Alabama, USC, UCLA and Cal," said Quick.

Quick was wearing Notre Dame gloves but said there wasn't any significance to them other than convenience.

"They were the ones I grabbed this morning," said Quick.  "I wore the Oregon gear to Vegas so I had to change it up."

Quick will camp at Washington for Rising Stars in June.

Gardena (Calif.) Serra cornerback Adoree Jackson is the West's top prospect.

After winning the CIF-SS long jump on Saturday, Jackson hopped up to Oakland for the NFTC and earned himself a spot at The Opening.

"I'm a little tired, but I just wanted to come out here and compete and go to The Opening," said Jackson.

Jackson said the schools coming after him the hardest spanned the country.

"Florida State, Florida, Michigan, Illinois, Notre Dame, UCLA and USC are recruiting me the hardest," said Jackson.

Jackson also mixed it up with Notre Dame gloves and Florida State shorts.

Mixon Ready For New Cut

Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back Joe Mixon is ready to make a new cut to his list, going from 16 to an expected ten in the coming weeks.

"I'm waiting to talk with my coach and my dad to go through the list, but probably sometime in the next few weeks, I'll narrow it down to a top ten, and then decide my five official visits," said Mixon.

Mixon said a half-dozen schools had been recruiting him the hardest.

"I'd say Georgia, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Cal and Washington have been recruiting me the hardest," said Mixon.

Mixon earned an invitation to The Opening as well on Sunday.

Simmons Selling Stanford

Arlington (Texas) Mansfield Timberview safety Brandon Simmons committed to Stanford earlier this spring, the first pledge to the Cardinal.

And the Lone Star State prospect came out to the Bay Area this weekend to not just work out at the NFTC but to also see his future home.

"I took the tour again at Stanford and I pay attention so much that I could probably give the tour," said Simmons.  "I can't wait to get out there."

Simmons has taken on the role of recruiter for the Cardinal.

"I told Coach (David) Shaw that I will be the recruiter of the year for Stanford," said Simmons.  "I was working on Dalton Schultz and Keller Chryts this weekend."

The U.S. Army All-American also got the nod for The Opening with his showing on Sunday.

Big Weekend for Delp

Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch lineman Kammy Delp has offers for both sides of the ball, but after the Oakland NFTC, the offensive line is likely his future.

Delp won the OL MVP and earned an invitation to The Opening.  He joined three fellow Prime Time Polynesian lineman who also have been invited, Damien Mama and Viane Talamaivao on the offensive line and Ainuu Taua on the defensive line.

"It means a lot to win the MVP and I can't believe I got invited to The Opening," said Delp.  "I just want to work harder and keep getting better."

Delp is at 10 offers and said that Cal and Colorado could offer and he's hoping to add USC and UCLA to the mix

"I don't have a top five right now," said Delp.  "My family wants me to focus on my season and then after I'll take my visits."

Gardena (Calif.) Serra safety Glen Ihenacho.

Serra Is Loaded

Two of the 13 prospects from Gardena (Calif.) Serra with offers are safety Glen Ihenacho and receiver Gregory Webb.

Webb didn't get to workout, still recovering from a hamstring injury, but he's holding an offer from San Jose State.

"I'm hearing quite a bit from Boise State and Utah is on me real tough," said Webb.  "I know I'm going to the Utah camp and the San Jose State camp and I'll probably go to USC and Colorado."

Meanwhile, Ihenacho is in double-digits and he had a good day on Sunday, including a 102.5 in the SPARQ.

"The coaches said they liked me with a few other guys," said Ihenacho.

Ihenacho said he thought USC, UCLA and Oregon have all picked up the interest and could offer soon as well as Oklahoma State and TCU.

"Washington State, Washington, Oregon State and Cal are recruiting me the hardest," said Ihenacho.  "Oregon State sends me 100 letters and Washington State hits up my email."
