McCarthy commits to Central Michigan

Defensive tackle Jimmy McCarthy of Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern discusses his commitment to Central Michigan.

A little over a week after receiving his first offer, defensive tackle Jimmy McCarthy of Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern knew where he wanted to go.

"When I visited [Central Michigan] on Saturday, I felt like I belonged there," McCarthy said. "I loved the facilities, coaches, and players on the team."

"A day and a half after I visited, I called [head coach] (Dan) Enos and committed," McCarthy said. "He was very excited. He likes my size, potential, and attitude, and he said he can't wait for me to get up there next year."

McCarthy said Central Michigan's ability to develop players for the NFL, like this year's No. 1 draft pick, Eric Fisher, also contributed to his decision.

"Seeing what Eric Fisher did there is awesome," McCarthy said. "They are up and coming and going to do big things at Central Michigan. It feels great to be committed and know that I can focus on my senior season."

McCarthy plans to only camp at Central Michigan this summer. He is the Chippewas' 12th commit for 2014.
