He visited once earlier in the spring and then visited over Memorial Day weekend.
Wilkins, in fact, spent two days in Tempe over the weekend, but left without an offer.
He also visited Arizona prior to visiting Arizona State, and the Wildcats, the first to offer him, looked like they may be in position to snag Wilkins.
But a day later, Arizona State finally came through with an offer.
And just three days later, Wilkins decided to jump on the offer and the four-star committed to Arizona State on Thursday afternoon.
"I fit so much better with Arizona State," said Wilkins. "It's amazing there. In terms of football fit and off the field as well. The school is so nice."
Wilkins called head coach Todd Graham and offensive coordinator Mike Norvell and gave them the news on Thursday.
And his relationship with Norvell played a big role in his decision.
"Sitting down watching film with Coach Norvell, man, it was crazy intense. I loved it and felt committed already," said Wilkins.
Wilkins has been recruiting for the Sun Devils already this week, despite not even committing until Thursday.
And now he can focus on his senior season, free from worrying about recruiting.
"I'm so relieved but I'm so happy," said Wilkins.
Wilkins is the #15-ranked quarterback in the country by Scout.com, and the #2 quarterback in California.
He becomes the fourth commitment to the Sun Devils in 2014 and the second four-star, joining Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive back Jaleel Wadood.
