Harris Talks Elite-11, OSU Visit
Bossier City (LA) Parkway quarterback Brandon Harris showed off a rocket arm in his Elite 11 performance in Columbus, Ohio. The mobile Louisiana native was easy to pinpoint throughout the day and emerged as one of the camp's best passers. He did not receive the immediate invite to the prestigious Elite 11 finals or an invitation to "The Opening", but remains confident both will still come. "I didn't get asked to go to either today but I know I will," Harris noted. "I can't come back tomorrow for the Nike training camp because I got to get back home. I'll keep working hard and continue to try to prove them all they should invite me. I'm pretty sure I'm still being considered." Harris was at Ohio State the day before to take in an unofficial visit of the Buckeyes' campus. Urban Meyer and his staff laid out the red carpet for the rising prospect. "Man, it was an awesome time," he said. "I got to meet all the big names like Coach (Urban) Meyer, Braxton Miller, and Archie Griffin. Braxton Miller is a great player and he was even cooler of a guy to hang around with. I really enjoyed chatting with him. I think my game is similar to his so it was good to share some time with him." "The facilities were so impressive also," Harris added. "I been to top schools before, like LSU and Alabama, but Ohio State's facilities were a lot bigger and better it seemed. That was quite a surprise to me. I had some family with me too and I think they enjoyed what they saw as well." Harris acknowledged that one part of the visit did stick out over the rest. It was something the coaching staff made clear to him. "From the minute I stepped onto their campus they made me a priority," he stated. "They just kept telling me they want me and that I am a perfect fit for what they want to do. I hadn't had a real long relationship with them so it was great to get that kind of reassurance from them." The Parkway product divulged how the rest of his recruiting process would play out and what steps he'll be taking to figure out what school he will attend. "I really can't go wrong with any of the schools on my list," Harris explained. "I kind of have an idea of a few schools it will come down to at this point but it can still change. I want to take the rest of these visits, sit down, and talk with my family about what the plan will be. I'll probably trim my list one more time before I make my announcement too." "I may let the school I'm going to choose know that I will be picking them, but nobody else will know until July 18th," he continued. "There's really no significance behind the date but really just kind of a time frame to concentrate on so I can come to a decision. I just didn't want my recruitment to go any further than that. I want it done so I can focus solely on getting better and helping my team win games."
