The Land of 1,000 Lakes is the land of tight ends this year as the state has a number of players at this position adding offers including Eden Prairie's Zach Hovey.
"I have Florida Atlantic and then I actually just got one today from University of Pennsylvania, it's an Ivy League school."
The Owls were the first offer for the 6'5, 230-pound Hovey and unsurprisingly, it was a special moment for him.
"I was actually super excited. My strength coach, he just drops by my house every once in a while, he happened to be there when I got it. I kind of went upstairs and he asked me how the call went and I let him know and my parents and him and I kind of celebrated a little bit, but I'm excited because FAU and going south, it has interested me a little bit. Obviously I'll go anywhere that I fall in love with, but I know that it's very beautiful down there and they've got nice weather so I'm excited to get one from them."
A visit to the school is possible, but not until later this year.
"I have not been down there before, however, I'm not going to go down there this June or July I don't think but possibly this fall, I'm not 100% sure."
As for his camp schedule, Hovey says, "I'm going to some big time camps and Big 12 and Northern Illinois, I'm going there. I'm going to the Northwestern showcase, so I know there are going to be a lot of colleges down there, so I'm looking forward to that one."
Another camp he will be attending this month is Minnesota, a school Hovey would be highly interested in.
"I think when you're growing up here, you hear about the Gophers, so to have an opportunity to be recruited by them and possibly go there and play football is obviously in my best interest."
