Contra Costa (Calif.) College linebacker Travon Brooks is back in the Bay Area, playing JC ball after spending a year at Washington as a walk-on.
“I went to Washington as a walk-on and I redshirted (in 2011) but then I came back because I wanted to play,” said Brooks. “Coach (Eric) Kiesau came by the school this spring and I loved Washington and would be interested in going back.”
Brooks’ cousin, Marcus Peters, is currently at Washington, and he said that he enjoyed his time there.
But he’s also open to other schools as well.
“Cal would be nice because they’re so close and Arizona State is interested and UCLA came by and seemed to be interested too,” said Brooks.
Brooks, 6-2, 240, is playing outside linebacker, but said he could move inside if he needs to.
“I could play inside, outside, either spot and I’d be good with either one,” said Brooks. “A lot of schools talking to me looked at my tape and liked what they saw so now I’m just waiting for someone to give me something.”
Brooks will be done with his AA and graduate in December and will have two years to play seasons.
