Lee's Summit (MO) linebacker Jimmie Swain has been one of the hottest names in the Midlands region. With 14 offers already in-hand, the athletic defender added another big name to the list last week as Stanford entered the fray.

Jimmie Swain is one of the top linebacker prospects in the Midlands for 2014. The Lee's Summit (MO) product's offer list includes some heavy hitters, with Michigan State, TCU, Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Oregon among them.

Swain added another prestigious program to the list on Friday as Stanford extended a scholarship to the talented defender.

"We talked about the importance of the academics that come along with going to Stanford, and how they ask all of their top prospects to take two A.P. classes their senior year of high school," Swain said of Cardinal assistant Tavita Pritchard. "I told him I was already doing that. Then, he asked if I was ready for a Stanford offer. I said yes, and he said 'well, you've got one.'"

Swain measured in at 6-foot-2.5, 229-pounds at the Nike Football Training Camp in Chicago last month. He clocked a 4.71 forty-yard dash, a 4.41 shuttle run, and a 32.3-inch vertical jump. In 2012, he earned First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-District honors.
