James With Multiple Offers
Tavis James of Tallahassee (FL) Godby High School missed most of last season due to a collarbone injury. In fact while playing the last month of the season the wide receiver/cornerback registered just one tackle on defense and didn't catch a pass on offense. However the rising senior had an impressive enough spring to warrant several offers according to Godby head coach Ronnie Cottrell. The 5-foot-9 and 160-pound prospect has scholarship offers from Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Middle Tennessee, Memphis, Stetson and Wofford heading into the summer. Coach Cottrell also said that James is receiving strong interest from Southern Miss who may be on the verge of offering. The inexperienced athlete will look to bolster his chances for a Southern Miss offer when he attends camp there later this summer. He has also been receiving attention from Michigan State. The Georgia native will also camp at Georgia State in his hometown of Atlanta. "It feels great to have these offers. I didn't get to play a lot last year because of my collarbone injury. I am looking forward to this fall and finally getting the opportunity to show what I can do," said James. The two school that stand out the most in the early going are Georgia State and Southern Miss according to James. "I like what Southern Miss does on offense. I like their tempo and they throw the ball a lot. I can play two positions in their offense either running back or inside receiver because of what they do offensively."
