Dunbar sophomore DeRante Sanders is a prospect to watch for the 2016 class. Sanders preformed well recently at a 7-on-7 event and caught the eyes of several people in attendance.
Only a sophomore, the 5-foot-10, 176-pound running back considers himself as a versatile player who will do whatever it takes to succeed.
“I just like to carry my team and motivate them,” said Sanders. “I’m a running back, but I play multiple positions. I play outside linebacker and I play a little on special teams. I just do whatever I can to help out,” he said.
He helped out quite a bit at the 7-on-7 regional tournament in Knoxville earlier this month.
“It went pretty good. We made it to the winner’s bracket. Our team is qualified for nationals in Florida,” he said.
Sanders liked playing against quality out of the area competition.
“It was good to play against those teams. I liked playing against this team from Miami. Me and one of the linebackers were going at it the whole time. I had a good experience,” he continued.
Sanders has plans to camp with Louisville, Ohio, Vanderbilt and Indiana this summer.
