Movers and Shakers in Updated East Rankings

With the spring evaluation period over, the East was re-ranked. Check out the the movers and shakers in the region.

The East Region was re-ranked this week and there was plenty of movement with players making big leaps, including the addition of four new four-star prospects, as well as some position changes.

  • The new four-star prospects are Central Catholic High (Pittsburg) quarterback J.J. Cosentino, Thomas Jefferson High (Clairton, Pa.) linebacker Chase Winovich, Dwight Morrow High (Englewood, N.J.) receiver Juwann Winfree and New Castle (Pa.) High athlete Malik Hooker, who is being recruited as a receiver and a defensive back.

  • The top seven in the region changed, but Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic High offensive tackle Quenton Nelson moved to No. 8 in the region. Nelson, who is committed to Notre Dame, also jumped up 20 spots in the national rankings to No. 62.

  • Manalapan High (Englishtown, N.J.) receiver Saeed Blacknall, who is down to LSU, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Florida State, made a huge leap from No. 155 to No. 75 in the rankings. Of all the previous four-star prospects, he made the biggest leap.

  • Mt. Lebanon High (Pittsburgh) offensive tackle Alex Bookser made was No. 163 in the rankings in the early spring, and is now No. 123 in the most recent rankings.

  • Woodberry Forest (Va.) School outside linebacker Greer Martini, who has been committed to Notre Dame since last summer, was upgraded from No. 263 to No. 224 prospect.

  • Jacquis Webb, a Rutgers commit from Gates-Chili High (Rochester, N.Y.), was originally listed as an offensive guard and is now listed as a three-star offensive tackle rated the No. 83 prospect at the position.

  • Four-star defensive back Kiy Hester of St. Joseph's-Montvale (N.J.) High was shifted from cornerback to safety. He is now the No. 15-rated safety in the 2014 class.

  • Erasmus Hall High (Brooklyn) standout Curtis Samuel spent the spring performing well at safety and receiver and is now rated as the No. 66 receiver.

  • Penn State commit Noah Beh of Scranton (Pa.) Prep was moved from defensive end to offensive tackle, and is the No. 38 offensive tackle in the class.

  • Perkionen Valley High (Graterford, Pa.) defensive back Rasaan Stewart was rated as a cornerback, but is now the No. 53 safety.

  • Middletown (Md.) High's Ricky Leonard burst on the scene in the spring, and the former lacrosse player is now listed as No. 32 defensive end in the nation.

  • Boston College quarterback commit Darius Wade of Middletown (Del.) High went from being unranked to the No. 25 signal caller at his position.

  • Kobie Walker, a Kentucky commit out of Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.), said was shifted from a safety to a three-star outside linebacker.

  • Rutgers commit Justin Herron of The Bullis School (Baltimore) was moved from defensive tackle to offensive guard and is the No. 60-rated player at his position. Recommended Stories
