"I'm getting a lot of interest," said the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Smith. "I have offers from Clemson, Duke, South Carolina, Penn State, Kansas State and Wake Forest. Other than the schools that have offered, Louisville is probably recruiting me the hardest."
Despite all the attention, Smith claims no favorites at this time.
Smith said he planned to camp at Clemson and Duke this summer. He then mentioned possibly visiting Clemson again for a game this fall.
Although the West Mecklenburg had a big season IN 2012, Smith is not satisfied.
"Winning a state championship is our main goal this fall," he said. "It's going to take a lot of hard work, determination and everybody buying in to what we are doing."
"Individually, I just have to keep improving. I want to have over 1,000 yards receiving on offense. Defensively, I want to lead the team in tackles and have 10 interceptions."
Last season, Smith played running back on offense and finished with 1,200 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. On defense, he led the team in tackles and had five interceptions.
