PCS: DeShawn McClease

SUFFOLK, Va. -- DeShawn McClease had a breakout season last fall. The 2015 Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith running back spoke with FOX Sports Next at last weekend's Peanut City Shootout 7-on-7 tournament about the latest developments in his recruitment.

The spring evaluation was a busy time for DeShawn McClease.

Now, the rising junior has a handful of scholarship offers.

"I have five offers," said the 5-foot-10, 180-pound McClease. "Virginia Tech, ODU, UNC-Charlotte, Temple and Wake Forest have offered. I've also been getting mail from Maryland, N.C. State and Syracuse."

The Oscar Smith standout said there are a few other schools he hoped would start recruiting him.

"I want to hear from Clemson and Pittsburgh," he said. "I like that they both produce a lot of great running backs."

Next month, McClease will head to a few camps.

"I haven't been to any camps yet, but I plan on going to Maryland and N.C. State," he said.

Although football season is still a few months away, the Oscar Smith star has already thought about a few places he may go visit this fall.

"I want to go to Virginia Tech for a game," McClease said. "I also might check out a game at N.C. State."

As usual, goals at Oscar Smith are high for the 2013 season.

"Our team's goal is the same every year – win a state championship," he said. "The key will be us developing good team chemistry. Individually, I want to rush for over 2,000 yards and score as many touchdowns as I can."

Last season, McClease rushed for over 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns.
