DURHAM, N.C. -- A little over a week ago, William Cameron and his team won a huge conference game…
Big 12 offer for Cameron
Last month, William Cameron received an offer from West Virginia. "It felt good to get the offer," said Cameron. "I really wasn't expecting it. My head coach called and told me about it." "I think I'm going to go up to West Virginia to a camp or just to visit soon, so I can talk to the coaches," he said. "I definitely want to try to get up there before the end of the summer." The Mountaineers' system appeals to the Southern Durham playmaker. "I like the way they run their offense," said the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Cameron. "It's fast-paced and smooth." Cameron has been to some camps this summer. "I went to Florida State's camp and their coaches said they were going to keep in contact with my coach," he said. "I also went to N.C. State and their coaches said the same thing. I think my next offer could be from be from one of those schools. I camped at Duke, too." Along with the aforementioned schools, Cameron has also been hearing from North Carolina, Clemson, Arizona and Notre Dame. Although he is wide open with his recruitment, Cameron admitted some schools were standing out early. "I really like Clemson, Florida State and West Virginia" he said. "Those are my top three right now." As for this fall, Cameron mentioned possible trips to Clemson, Duke, North Carolina and N.C. State. However, his main focus will be on his junior season. "This year, I want to be a good all-purpose back," Cameron said. "Team-wise, we're really working to go undefeated and win a state championship." Last season, Cameron finished with 800 yards rushing and six touchdowns and 100 yards receiving. On special teams, he returned three kickoffs for scores. Southern Durham opens their season against Hillside on August 30.
