Young May Have 3 SEC Offers in Future
Kenric Young of Gainesville (FL) High School is one of the most highly sought after wide receiver prospects in Florida if not the southeast United States. The 6-foot-2 and 175-pound receiver already has 27 offers from across the country and says he has been picking up significant interest from Florida, Missouri and Vanderbilt and could have offers from all three of the SEC schools in the near future. "Recruiting is going good. I have been talking to Vanderbilt, Missouri and Florida a lot lately," said Young. "I hope to know something about whether Missouri is going to offer later today. I am suppose to call them this afternoon." The Commodores could also be close to offering. "I've been speaking with Vandy a lot. They just want to see my test scores before they offer but I am not expecting that to be an issue. I have a former teammate that plays at Vandy and he has been telling me a lot of good things about the program," said the rising senior. The hometown Gators have also been showing interest in Young since his visit to one of Florida's June camps. "I am going to attend Florida'S Friday Night Lights. If I perform well, I hope to leave with an offer," said Young. The list of schools that have offered include Appalachian State, Cincinnati, UConn, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Marshall, Maryland, UMass, Middle Tennessee, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Ohio, Purdue, South Alabama, South Florida, Troy, Tulane, UAB, UCF, Utah, Western Kentucky, Wisconsin and his latest offer East Carolina. "East Carolina offered me as a safety but also told me that I could play both if I wanted too," said Young of the Pirates offer. Young went on to say that there are five schools that continue to pursue him a little more than the others. "NC State, Indiana, Iowa State, Western Michigan and Wisconsin are recruiting me the hardest and have been since they offered," said Young. While Young is still fairly wide open in the recruiting process he recently released his top 15 which includes; NC State, Indiana, Iowa State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maryland, Cincinnati, Western Michigan, UCF, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky, Ohio and USF. Of course that top 15 will likely change if Florida, Vanderbilt and/or Missouri extend an offer to the talented to wide receiver. Look for more updates on Kenric Young as we get closer to end of camp season and the start of the 2013 football season.
