San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine Prep athlete Joe Castignani (6-2, 212), has kept his summer schedule pretty packed with camps, looking for more offers.
His first offer came in from Sacramento State, which finally put Castignani’s mind at ease
“When Sac State offered, it was awesome because I have been training for three years, every day and it finally paid off,” said Castignani. “I’m definitely interested in Sac State and they’ll be on my list the whole way.”
Castignani is hopeful that more offers come in as he begins his senior season.
“A bunch of schools have said they’ll be watching me beginning of my senior year,” said Castignani. “San Jose State, Fresno State, Colorado and Wyoming have all said they’ll be watching me. And hopefully Washington State and Cal will also be watching me more.”
Castignani went to five camps this summer, getting on the radar of several of those schools.
“I went to camps at Fresno State, San Jose State, Nevada, Colorado and Cal Poly,” said Castignani.
Castignani said he thinks the hometown Spartans could be next to offer.
“I think San Jose State, if I have a few good games in the beginning of the season, I think they will offer,” said Castignani.
Castignani can play both inside and outside, and will be playing middle this year for the Bells.
“Schools tried me at both inside and outside at camps, and Sac State offered me as an outside linebacker but I’m playing mike backer this year,” said Castignani. “Last year I started at tight end too, but this year I’m playing offensive tackle. But defense is definitely where I’m going to play.”
Academically, Castignani has a 3.8 GPA and took the ACT and SAT this spring.
