Hurricanes land local DB
"I decided to commit because I wanted to be close to home, and it's what's best for me and my family. I wanted to be in my home town and bring a national championship back to Miami," Nigel Bethel said. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound corner committed called Miami Head Coach Al Golden just to talk, and before the conversation was over, he had pledged to be a Hurricane. "I called him, we were just talking about my future and things like that. When we were talking I just had the feeling that Miami is the best fit for me and my family," he said. "He's a straightforward guy, he keeps it real. I like that, I like how he recruited me, at a point when I wasn't leaning towards Miami, he still recruited me hard." The three-star athlete is happy to have his commitment out of the way and doesn't plan on exploring any other options at this time. "I'm very excited to have the recruiting process out of the way, I can shut it down and move on," he said. "At this point, I don't think I'll visit other schools. I'm one-hundred percent committed to my school." Bethel is excited to bring his skills to his hometown university. "Miami is getting a very smart, confident, person and defensive back, and hard worker and a leader. I think I'll bring a lot of speed to the Miami defense and a lot of versatility," he said. Bethel is the 21st commitment for the Hurricanes in the 2014 class.
