Tampa (FL) Wharton High School defensive end/wide receiver Antonio Joseph has five offers heading into the last summer camp weekend of the 2013 off-season. According to Wharton assistant football coach Craig Rainey, the 6-4 and 200-pound Joseph has offers from Georgia State, Middle Tennessee, Charleston Southern, Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky.
“Recruiting his going very well for me, the schools that have offered me are showing me a lot of interest,” said Joseph of his recruitment. “Everything is great though. I am just enjoying football and enjoying my senior year.”
The long, lanky end did say that one offer stands out to him right now.
“FAU because it’s in Florida and it’s close to home,” said the rising senior.
All five offers for the Wharton prospect are as a defensive end although he does play receiver as well in high school. Last season from his defensive end/outside linebacker spot, Joseph made 66 tackles including 48 solo stops, 4.5 sacks, one interception and two fumble recoveries.
While Joseph knows he must get stronger he feels does possess a good understanding of the game.
“The strength of my game is my football I.Q.,” said Joseph. “I am also very versatile. I can play in space or play with my hand on the ground. I am going to continue to work at being more explosive off the ball.”
Joseph also stated that he will continue to let the recruiting process play out and see if any additional offers come his way over the next several months.
