Irvine (Calif.) Beckman defensive end Charles Wright made an interruption on Tuesday that San Jose State head coach Ron Caragher probably didn't mind.
"I verballed to San Jose State," said Wright.
Wright called Caragher, who was in Las Vegas at Mountain West Media Days, to let him know he wanted to be a Spartan.
And according to Jimmy Durkin of the San Jose Mercury News, Caragher was meeting with the media when he said he had to excuse himself to take a call from a recruit.
And Wright said he was the recruit calling.
"Ha, yes, that was me," said Wright about interrupting Caragher's media time. "He told me he was at Media Day so that was it."
Wright got an early offer from the Spartans and had been leaning towards San Jose State for some time before he pledged to them on Tuesday.
"The coaching staff really seemed invested in me and what I brought to the table," said Wright. "I got a family vibe and San Jose State's program is on the rise."
Wright said he will play outside backer on the weak side for the Spartans.
He becomes the eighth known commitment for the Spartans, all eight from California.
