Joel Baldwin profile
"I attended Mississippi State's special teams camp a couple of weeks ago and I did pretty good," said Baldwin. "Logan Cooke was out there and they wanted me to come over and snap for him in front of Coach (Dan) Mullen.
"I think I had about 30 minutes of perfect snaps except for maybe one.
"Things just sort of took off from there."
Baldwin had been in touch with the Mississippi State staff since attending the camp and elected to revisit the campus yesterday.
"One of my high school coaches knows Coach (Scott) Sallach pretty well," said Baldwin. "He told Coach Sallach that I wanted to come over and visit.
"I told them that I was ready to be a Bulldog."
Baldwin reports that while he may not be on the scholarship rolls initially, he could earn a spot later in his career.
"I am going in as a preferred walk on," said Baldwin. "They only have one scholarship for a long snapper and they are giving that to someone already in the program.
"I am fine with everything, because I have wanted to snap for Mississippi State since I learned how to long snap.
"I have the same sort of opportunities at South Alabama and Southern Miss, but Mississippi State is where I have always wanted to be."
