Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla. has produced some of the top football prospects in the country over the last decade. They are known for having elite talent and they have a top flight receiver in the 2015 class.
John Burt is his name and he has picked up scholarship from some prestigious programs.
He does not know them all, but the ones he does know of says a lot about his talent.
"Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Miami, North Carolina, Alabama, LSU, and South Florida have all offered me. Those are the ones I know about right now. I could have a few more," Burt told Scout.
The last college campus he was own was in Gainesville, Fla. and he has seen The Swamp a few times now.
He likes what he has seen.
"I have been to Florida three or four times over the last year or two. I have been to a couple of camps now, I have seen the campus, and I like the atmosphere there a lot. They have a good program, their coaches are good teachers, and I like how they produce NFL players."
One of Florida's biggest rivals is Florida State. Burt goes to school right down the road from FSU, so he is pretty familiar with that program.
"Florida State is close to home, so with it being close by, I know a good bit about them and their program. They had some coaching changes this year, so I am getting to know people over there right now. They have a lot of tradition there, so I am sure I will get over there sometime this season."
Neither FSU or Florida was Burt's childhood favorite. He followed a school almost 900 miles away.
He has a little family connection to that school.
"My aunt is a Dean at Texas and my grandmother worked with new students in the administration building there as well, so I was always a Texas fan," said the talented junior. "I have been keeping up with their program for a while and they have had a lot of good teams and a lot of good players there."
Burt admits he grew up cheering for the Longhorns, but now that the recruiting process has begun, he has pushed those feelings aside.
He is going into this willing to look at any school that pursues him.
"Growing up, I was always a Texas fan, but I do not have a real favorite right now. I am keeping my options open and I will be looking at a lot of different schools."
"I am an all-around wide receiver. I have good speed, I have good hands, and I am able to go up and get the ball. I just think I am an all-around receiver right now."
Lincoln travels up to Georgia for their season opening to play South Gwinnett on August 24.
