Blacknall Recaps Rutgers; Where Things Stand
For all the times Manalapan High (Englishtown, N.J.) four-star receiver Saeed Blacknall visited Rutgers, it never took place with his family and he never received the blown out tour. That changed Saturday when Blacknall, one of the top uncommitted players in the East Region, was accompanied by his parents for an unofficial visit Saturday. And, like any other time Blacknall visited campus, it went very well. "It's a good place," he said. "It would not be a bad decision if I chose to go there. It's a good fit for me and, obviously, it's home." Blacknall left before the Scarlet Knights took to the practice field, but prior to that the full day included an academic presentation, a look around campus and a meeting with coach Kyle Flood. "I had been there and hung out so many times so I just went there with them (his parents) so they could see everything," Blacknall said. "They had been there, but not on the full tour. It's funny. I've been on campus so many times but never got the full tour like I did with other schools. "We had never sat down, talked to the academic advisors and everyone and saw the campus. We did that this time." Blacknall's trip to Rutgers comes after he made visits to LSU and Alabama last month. At the time of those visits, Blacknall had LSU as his leader and Alabama second. Now, he is no longer listing a leader. "I really don't know," he said. "I'm taking everything slow, especially coming off the Alabama/LSU trip. I'm sitting down and re-evaluating with my family and really trying to see where things go." One thing Blacknall did want to clear up is his feelings toward Rutgers. He said the Scarlet Knights were always on his radar. "Rutgers was never not an option," he said. "Rutgers is like home to me. The coaching staff is loving and it's just a warm feeling there. You can't go wrong on Rutgers. They were never not in the mix. I don't know why people would think, ‘Oh, I don't know why he's not looking at Rutgers?' " Now, Blacknall is trying to make a decision, which he hopes to have done by the start of his senior season. "I'm just waiting for the right time to make my decision," he said. "I really have no set date. It's going to be kind of random. I don't see it being an announcement. I think it will just happen."
