"I'm very excited about this, I've been thinking about doing this for a while now," Town said. "I talked with my family over the weekend and we decided Saturday that I was going to commit to Alabama. I called up Coach Nussmeier Sunday night and then he told me to call Coach Saban Monday morning since it's his program.
"I called up Coach Saban and told him I was ready to commit and he was definitely happy about it. I didn't know I would feel this relieved about it but right after I got off the phone, I felt a big weight off my back. Now I can really focus on St. Bonaventure football and just going out and having a great season."
Town said there were several reasons for why he chose the Tide.
"Football wise, it was a perfect fit," Town said. "Alabama runs a pro-style offense and that's what's I'm comfortable doing. It's a timing offense, being under with 3 and 5 step drops and that's how I've always been trained. Football wise, you can't beat Alabama, they have a great program and Coach Saban and Coach Nuss are the best at what they do.
"It was more than just football though. I loved the atmosphere and the community at Alabama. The people were so friendly and I just felt really comfortable in the South. I'm a pretty laid back guy so the life style and how the people are in the South made me feel very comfortable. I'm hoping to graduate early and I can't wait to get out there and start competing."
Town had some local options that he strongly considered.
"The Stanford offer gave me a lot to think about," Town said. "It's a great school and Coach Shaw is an incredible guy. I had really been thinking about Alabama but that Stanford visit did give me a lot to think about. USC is a school I always dreamed about playing for when I was young and I loved UCLA and they were really high on my list but the offense they run just didn't fit me that well.
"I also liked Georgia and Texas a lot and those were great visits for me. The more I thought about it though, I just realized no one was going to beat out Alabama and there was no need to put it off any longer. I felt strongly it was the best place for me so I decided to go ahead and commit now and I feel great now that I have."
