Top Five for Demery

James Demery has trimmed his list to five with Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, St. Joseph's, Creighton, and Miami making the cut. He has a few more visits to take before coming to his final decision.

6-foot-4, 190 pound shooting guard James Demery has recently trimmed his list of top schools to five. Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Miami, Creighton, and St. Joseph's all made the cut for the talented four-star prospect out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Although he has trimmed his list, Demery is in no hurry to come to a decision.

"I'm still taking it slow right now so I can make sure I make the right decision in the end," he said. "I still have visits to take and I should have a better indication of where I want to be at after I complete them all."

The Northside Christian Academy standout has had a successful high school career and is being recruited to fill the same role by all five schools he's narrowed it down to.

"They all see me as a two guard," Demery pointed out. "I'm a guy that can score the ball and be a slasher. I take pride in my defense as well and all the schools have said they like that about me."

Demery spoke about what the draw to Georgia Tech is for him.

"They (Georgia Tech) have a tremendous coaching staff," he stated. "Coach (Brian) Gregory is a great guy and always gets the most out of his players. His staff is really skilled at developing the talent they have. Their relationship with their players is very strong and I love that about them."

"The coaching staff at a school is the key factor for me," Demery added. "I want to go to college where I can succeed and be pushed to be the best I can be."

The nation's 22nd ranked shooting guard has one future visit planned and is in the middle of planning a few others.

"I have a visit locked up to see St. Joseph's in September," Demery mentioned. "I'm still setting up visits to Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Miami. I'm in the middle of getting all that figured out right now. We're trying to pick dates that make sense for those programs and is a time when I'm not going to be busy with school."
