Recruiting Update: Sweat’s offer list includes Florida State, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Ole Miss, North Carolina State, Old Dominion, Temple, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
Going into the spring, Sweat was an under-the-radar prospect. However, after dominating on the combine circuit, his recruitment exploded.
Now, Sweat is the No. 3 player in the East Region.
“It feels really good to be ranked so high,” said Sweat.
The Oscar Smith star said his work ethic has gotten him to where he is today.
“I just work hard and try to better myself,” he said. “I always go hard in my workouts and make sure I go out and do things the right way.”
Since the end of last season, Sweat said he has improved tremendously.
“I think I've gotten a lot better in the offseason,” he said. “I've worked harder than I ever have and I feel like I’m going to take the next step as a player this season.”
Despite all his success, Sweat remains motivated.
“I don’t want to see myself fall off,” Sweat said. “I know some people want to see me do well and some don’t. Regardless, I just go out and do my best.”
Oscar Smith opens their season on the road against defending state champion Lake Taylor on September 6.
Sweat is a long, lean athlete who really fires off the ball. He has tremendous quickness and very active hands. Despite weighing only 230 pounds, Sweat is deceptively strong and plays with good leverage. The combination of all the aforementioned things allow Sweat to completely overwhelm most offensive linemen at the high school level. Overall, Sweat is just scratching the surface of how good he can become. He may have the most upside of any prospect in the entire region.
