Stevens has favorites
With six offers to his credit, Montclair (NJ) defensive end Austin Stevens' recruitment is beginning to take shape. The 6-foot-4, 245 pound rising senior has a few schools in hot pursuit of his services. Stevens has named a top three and has two schools battling it out for the top spot. "My top three right now is Kansas, Temple, and Boston College," Stevens said. "Kansas and Temple are neck and neck right now and I'm just trying to figure out what is a better fit for me." Being looked at as a pass rusher at the next level, Stevens sees a lot of positives in possibly choosing to play for the Jayhawks. "My interest in Kansas is because of Coach (Charlie) Weis," he mentioned. "I think he'll solidify a good program there. The people I know that have been to the campus and have seen Lawrence have told me nothing but good things." "They have a defensive line that has a lot of juniors and seniors so after a redshirt season I would have a good chance to jump in and play," Stevens added. "I think I could succeed there. To be honest, I want to get as far away from New Jersey as possible and establish something on my own. Kansas would be a good spot for that." An official visit to Kansas is in the cards for Stevens and it could happen very soon. "I'll be taking an official visit to Kansas as soon as possible," Stevens told Scout. "The plan is to officially visit Kansas the weekend after our first game. We play September 12, which is a Thursday, and I'd like to get out to Lawrence for that weekend afterwards." "I'd like to take an official visit to Temple as well," he continued. "It could be a scenario where I only am able to take one of those and we will just have to see how it all works out."
