Tim Settle is the top 2015 prospect in the country.< p>
“It feels great (to be ranked No. 1), but I just have to stay humble and hungry,” said the 6-foot-3, 307-pound Settle.
“Now that I’m the No. 1 player, I feel like I have to work even harder.”
Do not expect the ranking to change the Stonewall Jackson standout.
“I just have to keep being me because I don’t want to be cocky,” Settle said. “I just want to be guy everyone gets along with.”
Despite all the recognition he has received this year, Settle has not gotten complacent in offseason.
“I've really worked on my stance and hand placement,” he said. “I’m going to do a lot of different things this year because I’m going to be playing offensive line, too.”
“I need to continue to work on my wrist control because I want to be the dominant player that can control the line of scrimmage and blow plays up.”
The five-star defensive lineman is looking forward to the upcoming season.
“I feel really good about our team this season,” Settle said. “I think we have the potential to win a state championship.”
A few weeks ago, Settle named a top five of Virginia, Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida. However, that is longer the case.
“No schools are standing out,” he said. “I kind of like them all. I don’t have a top five.”
Stonewall Jackson opens their season at home against Potomac on August 30.
