Midlands 2015: Scout 300 DEs

James Lockhart - Ennis

Scout.com breaks down the game of the first three defensive ends to make the Scout300 in the Class of 2015...

Complete Reports:
QB | RB | WR | OT | OG | DE | DT | LB | S | CB

James Lockhart (6'4, 250) - Ennis (Texas) High
A strong defender, who shows a high accumen for tracking down ball carriers in the open field, which shows his athleticism and pursuit skills right away on film. He is really good against the run. He is not your long, rangy style of defensive linemen, but rather more of the stout type. He is strong at the point of attack using his hands well to maneuver and control offensive linemen. Would not rul out growth to a DT.

Hale Hentges (6'4, 205) - Jefferson City (Mo.) Helias
A fantastic two-way talent from the 'Show Me State'. He could be a valuable addition as a tight end or as a defensive end. On defense, he is quick off the ball and long. He uses his speed to get in the backfield and make plays and his height to leap in to the air to bat down balls. On offense, he uses his size as an advantage of defenders and shows good hand-eye coordination and body control.

Breylin Mitchell (6'4, 250) - Round Rock (Texas) High
TCU Commit
More of a complete defensive end prospect. He has the necessary size already to go along with his impressive frame that grabs your attention when you see him in person. He sometimes struggles getting of blocks on his sophomore tape, but does not stop fighting until the whistle. He is not a true edge rusher at the position, but uses gap control and strong upper and lower body to keep his position and make plays. He is a solid tackler. Once he has you its over.
