Scouting Report: Berrien Springs Scrimmage
Berrien Springs scrimmaged with Cassopolis, River Rouge and Hartland today and Fox Sports NEXT took the opportunity to see their stars, defensive end Jhonathon Williams and offensive tackle Nick Padla in action. Padla had a good day. He was particularly impressive on defense, where he made a couple of plays in the backfield. As an offensive lineman, the position he is being recruited for, he continues to show good athleticism for a kid of his size. He still has plenty of room to fill out and is comfortable on the move. He was asked to pull a good amount and can definitely handle that. He plays guard for his school and while some colleges see him as a tackle, we could see him playing either at the next level. We also really like his intangibles. He is tough, one of the team leaders and gives maximum effort on the field. He has the right demeanor for an offensive lineman. Defensive end Jhonathon Williams is very long and athletic. He doesn't look his listed 237-pounds and still has plenty of room to fill out. He has all the physical tools you could want. He was also physical, tossing a blocker aside once and making a play in the backfield. What he has to do is keep adding weight and strength and work on playing lower. Against the run, he had a tendency to get too high. The Shamrocks also have a couple of other prospects to watch in their 2015 class. Running back Deonte Campbell-Sims is not real big, but athletic and elusive. Junior outside linebacker Jamonta Bell is very long with a similar body type to Williams and could be a kid who develops this season.
