Massillon offensive tackle Chase Lash was a player that started getting recruiting attention as a sophomore when he held his own against several highly-rated players.
Lash, 6-foot-5, 275-pounds, has always been able to raise his game against quality opponents, usually coming out ahead. In the past few seasons he has fared well against two of Ohio's best in Se'Von Pittman and Billy Price. He has also reshaped his body, dropping weight and adding strength.
"I'm in the best shape of my life and I've slimmed down a lot," Lash stated. "I played at over 300-pounds before and that was too much weight. I think I'm right where I need to be going into this season. It's like night and day for me, and I've played a lot of football."
"I'm reading the defense easier and I can tell the other players on the line what to do," he added. "I'm also playing a lot quicker at this weight. The colleges wanted me to slim down, and I'm doing what they've asked of me."
With one offer to his credit, Lash is hoping a big senior season will lead to more.
"I have an offer from Akron, but other schools are in contact," Lash said. "I'm hearing from Indiana, Illinois, West Virginia, and all of the MAC schools. I'm supposed to go back to Michigan State next month, and Coach (Pat) Narduzzi has been wanting to see me."
"That would be the only school I know I want to visit for sure," he continued. "The Akron offer is a strong offer and they said they are willing to wait for me to make my decision. I have been up there and like their program very much. I have a chance to play right away there."
