Taylor picks up first offer
Ocean Lakes is one of the top high school football programs in Virginia and has produced countless big-time college prospects. Levonta Taylor is the next one and he recently picked up his first scholarship offer. "I got my first offer from ODU this summer," said the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Taylor. "It felt good to get the offer, but I have to keep grinding." After a strong summer, Taylor is starting to generate more interest on the recruiting trail. "Lately, I've been getting mail from USC, Nebraska, Georgia, Alabama and Florida," said Taylor, who ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at Georgia's camp this summer. The talented sophomore is looking forward to going to some college games this fall. "I know I'm going to visit UVa and Virginia Tech," he said. "I'm going to try to visit Alabama and Florida, too." Last season, Ocean Lakes came up short in the state championship game. But this season, the Dolphins are looking to take the next step. "Winning a state championship is our main goal," Taylor said. "The key for us is to play as a team." Ocean Lakes opens their season tomorrow against Tallwood.
