Raymond has top five
Deshawn Raymond's top five includes, in random order, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Houston. "I like how the coaches at Florida State talk to me," he said. "They've been sending a lot of mail and want to know which games I can go to. They're in my top five and are one of the schools I'd go to if they offer...one I'd consider committing early to. "I camped at LSU. Coach (Corey) Raymond tells me things I need to work on like not lunging at receivers. He told me to get my technique right. He said I have nice size for a corner. I think I'll get an offer sometime this year." Deshawn will be glued to the tube tonight when older brother Derrick Raymond takes to the field for LSU versus TCU. "He loves it up there," Deshawn said of Derrick. "He couldn't wait for camp to come because everybody underestimates him. I'm waiting to see what he'll do tonight. I think LSU will come out with the win." Cincinnati and Southern Miss have shown increased interest. "Cincinnati sends letters," he said, "wanting me to come to their games. I heard about them but didn't know much about them until I watched their game today. They're beating Purdue, 28-7. I like how their DBs do. They have a good team. "Coach (John) Simon wants to get me to come down to a game at Southern Miss. I've never gotten a chance to watch them play. I was supposed to go today." Class 4A East Jeff kicks off the season next week vs. L.W. Higgins.
