Quinton Flowers led Miami (Fla.) Jackson to a 38-21 win over Miami (Fla.) North Miami Beach in week one. He had 200 yards passing and two touchdowns and he finished with 138 yards rushing with two more touchdowns on the ground.
The 6-foot, 210 pound senior has so much ability on the football field and he is one of the more versatile prospects in the Sunshine State, but it is all about one position for him.
"I want to play quarterback in college and the schools that are recruiting to play that position are the only ones I am considering. The other schools are out for me," Flowers said.
"I believe I am a quarterback, I want the ball in my hands, and I that is the position I plan to play in college."
Not only does the Scout 100 prospect feel he should play quarterback due to his talents on the field, there is another reason for him feeling so strongly about this.
It is something that means a lot to him.
"My mom passed away during my 11th grade year and the last position she saw me play was quarterback. I told her I would be a quarterback and that is what I am going to me. I am doing this for her."
The No. 10 prospect in the state Florida made it clear to Scout that he is only going to consider the schools that are recruiting him to play quarterback.
Flowers is set on playing quarterback.
A school like Alabama offered the four-star as an athlete, but even the two-time reigning national champs are not high on his list at this time.
"South Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Marshall, and West Virginia are my top five schools right now," Flowers said. "Those schools have told me quarterback, so that means something. Nebraska is another school I like and they have said the same thing about quarterback."
When the coaches tell him he can play quarterback, then Flowers will likely listen to them and look into their program. If they say anything else, they likely won't see their name on his list.
The one time South Florida commitment is in no rush to make his decision.
"We will see how things go. I do not have any official visits set up yet. I am worrying the Miami Jackson guys right now. We won't to win and go deep this year. Recruiting will work itself out."
If quarterback does not workout for Flowers, he could play wide receiver, running back, or safety on the next level.
