Hilliard sees Ohio State

LB Justin Hilliard

Linebacker Justin Hilliard is one of the top prospects in the state of Ohio for the 2015 class. He was at Ohio State this past weekend for an unofficial visit.

Ohio State hosted one of their top targets in the 2015 class this past weekend in Cincinnati (OH) St. Xavier linebacker Justin Hilliard.

Hilliard was offered by the Buckeyes at a camp in June and has garnered other offers including Iowa, Notre Dame, and Michigan.

He explained the reason for his trip to Columbus to visit Ohio State for their season opener.

"I wanted to see what a game was like at Ohio State," he said. "They are one of the schools I needed more information on and it was a visit I could make happen since the schedules allowed for it. The other schools around here that have offered me I know pretty well but Ohio State is one that I'm still learning about."

Hilliard enjoyed his first non-camp visit to Ohio State and enjoyed talking to two coaches in particular.

"It was a good experience," he noted. "I haven't been to Ohio State much and it was neat to see what the players and coaches go through on the day of games. It was an informative trip and I enjoyed talking to Coach Meyer and Coach (Luke) Fickell before the game. We were just trying to get to know each other and I haven't spoken to them in person much. I talk to Coach (Urban) Meyer and Coach (Kerry) Coombs about every week but this was a good way to get to know the coaches more."

The top 100 player in the initial 2015 Scout 300 spoke about the message the Ohio State coaches have sent to him early on.

"They have told me that I'm one of their guys they really want to have at Ohio State," Hilliard pointed out. "Linebacker is a need for them and they want to get the best in my class and they say I'm one of them."

Though he has begun to take his unofficial visits, Hilliard has no intentions of narrowing his list of schools down anytime soon.

"I'm not really close at all to narrowing down my choices," he mentioned. "I saw my brother go through the process and know how important it is to gather as much information as possible before moving forward. Seeing him going through his recruitment process really helped me out and I know what to look for and how to approach it."

Hilliard will visit Michigan next weekend for their night game against Notre Dame. He also mentioned a possible return visit to Ohio State for one of their night games this season.
