Detroit Loyola started their season with a big win over East English Village Prep, thanks in part to the play of two-way lineman Ka'John Armstrong, one of the team's senior leaders.
"It feels good," he said. "East English is a good team. They're a D3 school, and we're a D7 school, so we wanted to make a statement."
Armstrong spent the offseason working out and improving his technique. He is now down to 268-pounds and he admits he felt better out on the field after making those improvements.
"There's still more work to be done, but the offseason really helped me."
The summer was also important in recruiting, as he landed his first offer from Eastern Michigan, and the Eagles are in a good position with him.
"It was a great feeling (getting the offer). I love Eastern Michigan. It's a good school and they treat me like family up there. I'm really thinking about going to Eastern Michigan. I'm hoping to go to Eastern Michigan."
Armstrong visited the Eagles on Saturday for their home opener, a win over Howard.
